m8, its ok if your using this to browse web pages and download - but you'll get a 400 approx ping, my mate has same connection.

He may be right Fragg m8, after all think of all the extra coding and decoding will have to take place to send the signal via a microwave Tx. You will get the full bandwidth but there will be a delay before it starts Txing and Rxing due to the different stages of signal conversion. I'd imagine this will show up in your ping for games, may result in gameplay worse than your 56K. :(

i did a lot of research and found that it may not be that bad. I have mailed the company and they are going to come and check if I can get it. I have also asked them about latency. If it lags to much then too bad, but its only a small network so it may be ok, only 4 or 5 villages on 1 transmitter, even if its the same ping as 56k, i can still make use of 1meg download.
The more I look the more it becomes clear....wireless latency can get out of conrtol as you reach the 35 km maximum distance level, however I will be within 1 km of the transmitter. this is from forums where peeps have wireless broadband.
satelite bb is pants...lol...20.000 miles of lag....
see what the guy says anyway.....:D

its like how sat works.
although you can have a download spped of 6mb the connection still relys on a dial up modem for upstream, so yeah you'll download fast with sat, but ping times will be just as bad if not worse than dial up..!!!!!!!!!
Me mates company is starting to do this and when i move down to my girlfriends in the middle of nowhere, where they just about lucky enough to have heard of copper to make phone lines out of, sat was the only option and its a waste of time for gaming :( and her line is DAX split so if i move down there, i will prolly give up CS and all other online gamin for good :(
mind you, ok i might not play games but she will have to compensate for this by catering for my every whim :D

its not a 56K upload, the 1meg is 256k/s upload and that would be double duel ISDN, and theres no ADSL in his area so it cant be using the phone line to get 256k/s. Therefor it must be Txing, altho thought you would need a broadcasting liscence for that, unless its covered in the cost of rental or something.
