Hey all,

I'm looking for a Broadband Router with build in switch for my ADSL(via ISDN) line. 4 to 6 ports. 100mbit. Any recommendations on brands etc would be greatly appreciated.

Money isnt an issue, but please, some sensible ammounts people, don't want the most expensive thing out there =)

Cheers,

I've got an Alcatel 510 ... the latest one comes with a 4-port switch ...

What type of ADSL do they have in your country, cause they can be different ;)

Type?

I'm getting ADSL over my ISDN line. I'm using a Speedtouch Ethernet ADSL Modem. Speeds are 768kbit down / 128kbit up

Not what I meant but still, that's some funky down you've got, too bad about the up ;)

hah. thats nothing compared to my 5.6kps down and 2.3kps up....

serisouly though, is a usb isdn connection better than using an ethernet card or switch?

netgear seems generally good. might be cheaper to run a separate modem/switch. ive never had problems with any switch ive had (currently run 2 - a 4 port built into my broadband router (alcatel) and a 16port running some other pcs)

I have a separate ADSl router and 8 port switch.
There are many advantages of getting separate ones.
if router breaks, network dont.
you can easily upgrade the router etc, be it to cable from adsl etc, or if u get one that dont support the new longer ip addresses that are coming out, cos i'm not sure mine does.

I got a ASUS AAm 6000EV router
and a Netgear 8 port 10/100Mbit auto switching Switch.

I'm very happy with them both!
I did consider a router with built in hub/switch but at the time they only really came with hubs built in!
I'd still recommend a separates approach though.

Hope this helps,

Cheers.

Already mailed them about the up, they say the cant upgrade it even if I payed for it. I would have to get the bigger package wich is 1536kbit down and 256kbit up.

Does anyone else agree with busta on the seperate approach? Cause I was thinking about getn a combined Router with build in switch ya see..

Well, in my crazy house I've got an 8-port switch and a 4-port router, that's just because we've got more than 4 computers so it's easier having them all in the switch

(it's an old router so it's only a hub too)
